7 May 2009 letters to the universe
I am currently collecting letters to the universe for an upcoming zine!
GUIDELINES:
♥ To really start a conversation with the universe, it’s best to sit down with your favorite notebook and pen, and hand-write till you feel like stopping. Electricity always totally zaps my energy flow.
♥ That said: if you want to just pump out a few rounds of text on your keyboard, that’s o.k. too! It’s definitely better than not submitting at all.
♥ I will assume you are okay with being published unless you tell me otherwise. The only information that will be included with your letter is the name you use to sign it, so just use a fake if you want to be anonymous. If you still only want your letter to be between you, me and the universe, let me know in your email. But it’s way more fun if you share it. (Besides, the universe already knows about it.)
♥ Feel free to include drawings or other artwork, if that’s how you roll. (As long as it’s something new that you did to supplement your letter to the universe.)
♥ You are welcome to send multiple letters at different times, places, states of mind… This is an ongoing project, and you’ll never be writing to the same universe twice.
♥ What is “the universe”? To me it’s the divine, that feeling in my belly when I’m doing something difficult but right, the big pool of energy in which we’re all exchanging waves. To you it could mean God/dess, Satan, literally our galaxy, your family, your boss, your girl/boyfriend, Chanel, YouTube, Jim Beam, yourself, or whatever else rules over your life. If you’re not sure, just write “Dear Universe,” at the top of a page and see what comes out. Maybe you’ll end up writing to a specific person, time or place. Maybe the page will be blank. Don’t think about it too much.
Send all submissions to: mollyburkett@gmail.com
If you’re sending scans of your handwritten letters or original art,
please include it as a high-quality JPEG attachment in your e-mail.
