28 May 2009 a toast
let’s toast to being grown-ups, cringe at botched surgeries pout your lips
suck in your cheeks and get ready:
there’s something new here, and no one knows what to name it.
my legs are bent all the time (like cartoon characters, or the elderly) enough
that it’s easier for my fingers to graze the ground, dust falling from my fingertips
and paintstains on my jeans. ok prom dresses, this is a consigned memory, and you will
have no way of knowing how many hands you’ve been in,
until the end you’ll open your address book and using a pencil tap
each name
counting
ignoring phone numbers (email addresses instead)
when you get to 100 stop, and be satisfied.
so sore from mornings that are actually afternoons (drink coffee when everyone else is ordering smoothies)
and we’ll pretend this is the first time this has
ever
been
done.
18 May 2009 lightning + wine

too wet for the roof, had to sit on the kitchen floor. night is bright if you wait long enough.
9 May 2009 ready, set, go
Ever since I was a wee little internet narcissist, I’ve pictured “Dotcom” as my married name. Two dozen blogs and social networking pages later, MollyBurkett.com is finally a reality! (Bonus points to anyone who can list all my past LiveJournal names.)
Prompted by Nubby Twiglet’s Thoughts On Blogging article, I was determined to go live with the site today. I’ve been at the IU library for, oh, seven hours or so now putting on the final touches. I took these images earlier tonight, back when I could still feel my legs and open my eyes all the way. Hope you enjoy my first official self-portraits as a reformed blogesse!
Read the ABOUT page to learn more about what I envision for this site. Je suis psyyyyyched.
